Destratification Ceiling Fan Applications

The Airius method of thermal destratification, which is still relatively new to the UK, is more cost effective than the alternative traditional oversized ceiling fans or re-engineering the existing HVAC system and is extremely energy efficient, reducing heating costs by up to 50%, thus helping you save on your energy bills.

By eliminating the thermal differential that naturally occurs as heat rises in all buildings and by balancing floor and ceiling temperatures, significant energy savings are achieved. Airius Destratification will benefit and improve any facility.

Airius destratification ceiling fans integrate with any existing HVAC system be it forced ventilation, evaporative cooling or air conditioning.

Hot Air Management

The key application for the Airius destratification fan is the management of hot air within a building; after all there is no point in heating the roof when the area that really requires heating is the first 6 ft above the floor.

Typical applications include:

Factories & Warehouses

Often factories & warehouses have high ceilings, the higher the roof the larger the temperature differentials floor to ceiling. Moving the hot air from the roof and spreading it evenly throughout the building will ensure the heating system will not have to work so hard to maintain the required temperature so thermostats can be kept at required levels. Heat from lighting, processing machinery and heat from the sun striking the outside structures of buildings even in winter can also be utilized by Airius fans to increase energy savings even more.

Pharmaceutical Warehouses

Even temperature throughout the building will enable easier compliance for warehouses storing pharmaceuticals. Strategically placing the Airius destratification fans lower down the walls enables the creation of a hot air thermal trap at the top of the building whilst circulating the cooler air around the stock.

Greenhouses

Circulating the hot air around a greenhouse ensures an even temperature throughout and therefore a better growing environment, less affected by outside temperatures and ultimately producing reduced heating bills. Cold spots will be eliminated to provide more growing area and increased plant growth can be achieved (see testimonials)

Offices

Circulating the air round an office makes for a more comfortable working environment and therefore higher productivity whilst reducing the overall energy outlay.

Municipal Buildings & Swimming Pools

Often these buildings have high ceilings and as expected the hot air is in the roof area where it is not needed. Circulating the hot air will dramatically reduce the energy costs whilst keeping the athletes warm when they get out of the shower, pool or gymnasium.

Multiples, Showrooms & Retailers

Both the fixed and the suspended Airius ceiling fans operate to good effect enabling effective, efficient management of hot and cold air throughout the store. The shoppers are kept at a comfortable temperature whilst lowering energy bills and also doing your bit for the environment.

Cold Air Management

There are a number of instances when premises will benefit from the destratification of cold air, typically these are:

Mezzanine Floors & Split Level Buildings

In hot weather the cold air will sink to the floor, consideration should be borne for the workers nearer the roof who will be sweltering in the heat. The Airius destratification fans will ensure an even spread of temperatures at all levels throughout the building.

Low Ceilings

Ceilings under 18ft (5.5m) also benefit from thermal destratification as the warm air will push the cold air to the floor which will form into pockets or cold spots. By mixing up the air the environment will become pleasant throughout. The most prevalent instance of this is in an office environment, where you see some staff still sweltering and others in their woolly thermals!

Oddly Configured Buildings

Oddly configured buildings tend to trap cold air in pockets or cold spots. On a hot day, circulating the precious cold air is therefore essential.

Atriums

The sun is able to warm the air very effectively in an Atrium. By strategically positioning Airius Destratification fans the hot air can be kept at the top of the Atrium whilst the cold Air can be circulated lower down, avoiding cold spots and keeping those near the ceiling at a pleasant working temperature.
