Consisting of a jury made up of architects and designers, the annual ‘Record Products Awards’ selects the best new products of the year, choosing from hundreds of entries submitted. Jurors rated each product according to innovation, usefulness, and aesthetics and in 2015 Airius were selected as ‘Best in Category’ in the Heating, Ventilation & Cooling category for the Airius Model 25/EC unit, which incorporates a highly energy efficient Electronically Commutated (EC) Motor.
In 2015 Airius were once again awarded with the ‘Product Innovation Award’ in the Building Systems category at the annual ‘Product Innovation Awards’. This year however the award was presented to acknowledge Airius’ new ‘Narrow Aisle System’, part of Airius’ Retail Series which has been specifically designed to help circulate air in tightly spaced cold aisles to reduce energy consumption and improve comfort in supermarket and retail applications.
The ‘Excellence in Business Awards’ is dedicated to recognising key providers and decision makers in the Public Sector, acknowledging the professionalism, competency and service levels from companies that excel in what they do. The Airius destratification system was selected as the outright winner in 2015 in their ‘Best Air Quality Product’ category.
The Airius Designer Series, Airius’ destratification system specifically designed to meet the needs of architecturally sensitive installations, was shortlisted for the award for ‘Energy Efficient Technology of the Year’ at the prestigious ‘Energy Awards 2014’, held at the Hilton Park Lane, London. The Energy Awards, held as part of the RWM Expo – Europe’s premier event for resource efficiency and waste management solutions – aims to recognise the achievement of companies cutting emissions and products that are leading the way in innovative energy use, and the ‘Energy Efficient Technology of the Year’ category acknowledges new products that have the potential to significantly reduce energy use within a building.
Airius were shortlisted as finalists for the ‘Energy Product/Service Award’ at the renowned Environment and Energy Awards 2014. The awards, widely regarded as one of the highest accolades for sustainability in the corporate sector, recognise excellence and innovation in sustainable business practices. In the ‘Energy Product/Service’ category Airius competed against multinational facilities management and construction services titan Carillion Plc. as well as The Carbon Trust – a world leading not-for-dividend organisation set up by government in 2001 to help businesses, governments and the public sector accelerate the move to a sustainable, low carbon economy.
In 2014 Airius were awarded the highly sought after ‘Innovation Award for Environmental Technology’, at the coveted ‘Energy & Environment Awards’ held at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham. The awards, widely regarded as one of the highest accolades for sustainability in the corporate sector, recognise excellence and innovation in sustainable business practices. In order to achieve the award Airius fought off stiff competition, including retail DIY giant B&Q. During presentation of the award the judges commented Airius had been chosen as winners of the ‘Innovation Award for Environmental Technology’ because “We were impressed with the Airius product. It works in a simple manner but has profound consequences in terms of heating and cooling with associated energy and costs savings.”
Airius were also awarded the ‘Product Innovation Award’ in its Building Systems category at the ‘2014 Product Innovation Awards’ held annually by Architectural Products, which champions ingenuity in the built environment.
Architectural Products Magazine, one of the most widely regarded publications in the architectural market, awarded Airius with the ‘2014 Product Application Award’ at their annual ‘Product Innovation Awards,’ which champion ingenuity in the built environment. Judged by a group of 50 independent industry professionals, Airius were presented with the award to recognise the energy savings and improved efficiencies achieved on the Hort Woods Child Care Centre project, which achieved LEED Platinum certification following installation of the Airius system. The Airius system was employed to create a natural ventilation system, drawing in cooler air from the north-side courtyard area, through the building to exhaust on the higher south-side of the building, where there is solar heat gain. This provided a highly efficient and cost effective method of cooling and ventilation, significantly reducing the energy consumption and CO2 emissions that would have otherwise been required.
The 2014 AHR Expo Innovation Awards recognises products that best help HVACR practitioners provide safer, healthier more efficient and/or more comfortable environments. The annual competition is sponsored by ASHRAE, the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and the International Exposition Company (IEC).
In 2012 Airius were named one of Architectural Products Magazine Top 50 Readers’ Choice Winners. The magazine’s annual “Top 50 Readers’ Choice” issue spotlights the year’s most popular products based on the number of requests for product information received from readers. Architectural Products presents these products in order to “help designers identify products that demonstrate a certain utility, fulfil requirements that can help deliver sustainable projects, aid with meeting the needs of specific market segments, or simply look good.”
Airius were awarded ‘Green Building Pages – Benchmarking Sustainability in Building Product’s Award’ by the U.S. Green Building Council, at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in 2007. The “End of Product Life” award was presented by Director of Green Building Pages Marilyn Miller Farmer, who said “The Airius destratification system is a deserving recipient of the Award due to its support of a healthy, sustainable and socially responsible environment. The Green Building Pages provides a reliable source of sustainable product information to building industry professionals and consumers and the Airius system is certainly one of those products.” Criteria for this award include a product’s environmental sustainability as it relates to alternative disposal, reclamation, re-use, recycling and biodegradability.
In 2007 Airius was awarded the Sustainable Business Medal of Honour Award to recognise the energy efficiency and sustainability of the Airius destratification system. The Award was presented in partnership with CORE (Connected Organizations for a Responsible Economy) and NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory). Bud McGrath, Executive Director of CORE said, “We awarded Airius the Sustainable Business Medal of honour for their development of the Airius destratification system, a product that is extremely energy-efficient with very low carbon emissions, especially compared to similar products of its kind.”
